Online Documentation
---------------------
The VectorWorks User's Guide is available in PDF format, through the VectorWorks Help menu. You must install Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the file.
Compatibility Notes
-------------------
Some versions of MacOS 9.0.4 (which shipped in Summer 2000 with new G4 Macs) install OpenGL version 1.1.5. This version of OpenGL has serious stability problems, and VectorWorks 9 will refuse to use it. If you have version 1.1.5, you should update your OpenGL to version 1.2 or later in order to use OpenGL rendering within VectorWorks. Apple's OpenGL 1.2.1 inststaller is included on the VectorWorks 9 CD.
OpenGL and RenderWorks rendering either produce very poor results or refuse to render altogether if the monitor depth is set to 256 colors or less. If you plan on using rendering within VectorWorks, you should set your monitor depth to thousands of colors or higher on the Mac or true color or higher on Windows.
New Features and Fixes
----------------------
Read the "Program Changes" section in Chapter 1 of the VectorWorks User's Guide for a list of program changes and new features for this release.
See the HTML file "ReleaseNotes.htm" in the VectorWorks directory for a complete list of bug fixes.
Addenda
-------
This section contains documentation for functionality that was added and/or revised after the VectorWorks User's Guide went to press.
1. Correction to page A-4: The 2D Rotate Tool is assigned the equal sign (=) keyboard shortcut, and is located on the Editing palette. The 2D Mirror Tools is also located on the Editing palette, and does not have an assigned shortcut key.
2. Addition of the Update V2 Objects command: The Update to V2 Objects command (accessed from the Tools > Utilities menu) converts all window and door plug-in objects in the active document from the old version (V1) to the new version (V2). This command operates for all plug-in objects in all document layers, whether they are freestanding, in round or straight walls, in a placed symbol, or in a symbol definition.
It is recommended that you save a copy of the document prior to running the command, as the command cannot be undone.
The conversions from V1 to V2 are as follows:
Simple Window -> Simple Window 2
Complex Window -> Complex Window 2
Simple Door -> Simple Door 2
French Door -> French Door 2
Overhead Door -> Overhead Door 2
Sliding Glass Door -> Sliding Glass Door 2
Wall Opening -> Complex Window 2 in 'Cased Opening' configuration
All applicable parameter values and attached records of the V1 objects are transferred to the V2 objects. There are no visible changes in the document, simply increased V2 object functionality. This functionality includes: improved wall breaks in masonry and veneer walls, better line weight control in Plan view, and an option for improved hidden line renderings in 3D view by using the Draw Using 3D Solids option; this last option is somewhat time consuming to generate, so we recommend using this option for window and door plug-ins inside of symbols only.
